Career Journey

I am seeking to work in Real Estate Private Equity (REPE).

The career blogs will serve as an opportunity for me to learn and teach about REPE and PE generally.

From the time of this writing, I am seeking to get a role in REPE by July 2026. I will be learning, networking, and teaching to get to that goal. This will be one of my platforms to do that.

The point is to level up my active income and put myself into a more dynamic position career-wise.

Of course, all roles come with risks and it's called "at-will" employment for a reason- it can be your last day today.

It comforts me to have fully internalized that while I work for a company where I am not in total control, understand that it is my choice to do that and part of the game of not having to run every part of the business (yet) is that they make career decisions on my behalf.

It is what it is and this is the game.

Being dynamic is most important for me because it delivers options, and options deliver freedom. I current do economic research and data science for a financial services company and while that is interested and I learn a lot, there is not a lot of risk involved, i.e. no live deals, and the payout is subsequently lower.

Climbing the corporate ladder is definitely an option and I believe I could successfully do it, but I'd like to keep my options open.

At my company we discuss all the risks and one that is important is counterparty concentration risk - not putting all your eggs in one basket.

To run my life and career systematically would mean to follow that same principle in my eyes, so I will do just that.

To that end, I'm staying dynamic, keeping all options open, and starting my journey into REPE.

Have a great Sunday. Thank you.
